What is the uniqueness of “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Intellectual Property Awards” and
“Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship Programme” to help a start-up?

It is the 1st youth entrepreneurship programme that focus on Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Intellectual Property.
The 10 winning teams will be given a total of HKD$4,500,000 prizes and grants.
Distinguished industry experts will provide a full range of support and advice to the start-up team, including animation,
comic and game specialists to provide creative content development, brand building and business operations,
etc… Moreover, cross-industry experts will help commercialize the creative content, including product development,
sales and marketing, finance and licensing.

Should applicant develop IP (Intellectual Property) in one of animation, comics or games categories only?

No, the IP can be in more than one animation, comics or games categories, and applicants are encouraged to
propose a business plan on how to commercialize IP into products or services (such as educational, toys and sports
products, etc…) and establish a sustainable start-up.

Should the application form be lled out in Chinese or English?

Applicant should fill out the application form in either Chinese or English.
In the second vetting, shortlisted applicant is required to prepare application information in both Chinese and
English.

Can applicant only join “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Intellectual Property Awards” or
“Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship Programme”?

No, “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Intellectual Property Awards” and “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship
Programme” are two parts of one integrated programme. Applicant should submit two parts of the programme
together.

Can team member from other Asian regions (such as China, Japan or Korea, etc…) join “Hong Kong Ani-Com
& Games Intellectual Property Awards” or “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship Programme”?

Yes, “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Intellectual Property Awards” is open to eligible youth of Hong Kong and
other Asian countries, and “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship Programme” is open to eligible Hong
Kong permanent residents only. That means when youth of other Asian countries who want to join “Hong Kong
Ani-Com & Games Intellectual Property Awards”, he/she is required to team up with eligible youth of Hong Kong as
applicants to “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship Programme” at the same time.

In “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship Programme”, how does applicant receive grant and loan?

The winning team needs to set up a new company according to Business Registration Ordinance (Cap. 310). Then, it
will sign a contract with the organizer. The grant and loan will be given according to the contract.

In “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship Programme”, can applicant propose an established company?

Yes, applicant can propose an established company which must not be in operation prior to 29th September, 2017.

In “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship Programme”, can team member from other Asian regions
(such as China, Japan or Korea, etc…) become the shareholder of the proposed company?

No.

How to prepare business plan and nancial budget, are there any operating target for applicant to achieve?

There are no fixed targets. The organizer suggests applicant considers the operation and expected income of a
start-up within 9 to 12 months, including shareholders’ funding, HK$400,000 grant and loan (optional) from “Hong
Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship Programme”, etc… Applicant should convince judges by the feasible
and sustainable business plan.

In “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship Programme”, if team member is subject to any bankruptcy order or proceedings,
can he/she become the shareholder of the proposed company?

No.

IMust applicant’s IP concept be original?

Applicant’s IP concept can be:
1. Original IP and contents, or
2. Authorized IP by others to commercialize as the business. Applicant must have the consent or endorsements from
IP owner and not infringing on the Intellectual Property Rights.

When applicant applies “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Intellectual Property Awards” and “Hong Kong Ani-Com & Games Entrepreneurship
Programme”, can applicant apply for funding from other entrepreneurship or incubation programmes supported by the Government
of the HKSAR or other related organizations?

No. Avoiding double funding to a company and supporting more qualified companies, if applicant has already
received funding supported by the Government of the HKSAR or other related organizations. The applicant will not
qualify to join this programme.

What are the vetting procedures?

The vetting procedures are separated into 3 stages.
Stage 1: Initial screening, Stage 2: Second Vetting, Stage 3: Final Vetting.
Shortlisted applicants from stage 2 are required to make presentation to the Final Judges and answer questions
related to the entry.
